Lasith Malinga’s One Day International performance against Australia at Hambantota, Sri Lanka has been shortlisted for the ESPN CricInfo Awards 2011 in the ODI Bowling category.
The man known as ‘Slinga’ took five for 28 in the third match in the series at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium leading his team to a 78-run victory.
Malinga began the demolition by drawing an edge from Shane Watson to slip, before getting captain Michael Clarke to chip to mid-on and taking the wicket of Michael Hussey, who square-drove to point.
The fast, deadly Yorkers that have become the man’s trademark blitzed the stumps of Xavier Doherty and Doug Bollinger, as Malinga chalked up yet another five wicket haul.
