Sports PLC are delighted to announce the acquisition of Woodworm.

The brand had run into some financial difficulties, but as a brand still at the forefront of the British game, Sports PLC hope to re-ignite the success the brand enjoyed after the 2005 Ashes.

The company is planning on signing up a host of up and coming cricketers to represent them, as well as help in future product design and development.

“ We are constantly looking to purchase great sporting brands and are thrilled to have added a prestigious brand such as Woodworm,” said Simon Millington, Sports PLC's chief executive.

“As a company we are passionate about developing the finest products and with our expertise in cricket and golf we believe we can take Woodworm to the next level”

A new website is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2009, connecting Woodworm and its pro squad directly to the customers and fans of the brand.

The company is in the early stages of developing the new range for 2009 that is set to offer higher quality bats than ever before, with a stunning design and of course the trademark scoop on the sides.

The future certainly looks bright for Woodworm!
