    Why woodworm?

It is widely accepted amongst cricketers and bat manufacturers that a bat is a tool of the trade, its raw materials are naturally grown and not man made. A good bat is produced by craftsmen and their aim is to combine excellent hitting power with durability. The combination is never easy. Softer pressed bats tend to “go better’ but are even more likely to crack. The harder pressed bats last longer but hitting power is often compromised. The bat makers’ aim is to strike a balance between the two to make the best all round cricket bat.

The Woodworm ProSeries, is one of the best bats on the market, and offers great value for money against other leading brands such as Gray Nicholls (Predator), Kookaburra (Blade Runner) and GM (Icon DXM).

All of the bats mentioned in the comparison are GRADE 1 English willow, which is the highest grade of willow and is the grade of choice for all professionals. The Woodworm Pro series are used by our sponsored Test cricketers such as Shoaib Malik (PAK) and Graham Onions (ENG).

The Pro Series shape is unique and specifically designed for excellent balance and pickup, the Woodworm ProSeries has adapted all the qualities of other bats in the market to make the optimum shape, whilst still retaining the classical format. The ProSeries also includes technical aids, with the “bowed” shape helping you keep your hands in front of the ball on contact enhancing control and technique.

Choosing a cricket bat is a very personal decision. There are no right or wrong bats, just the one that feels right for you. Of these features, size and “pick-up” or “feel” are particularly important. This is where Woodworm is ahead of its competitors. When purchasing a ProSeries bat, a cricket specialist will contact you and tailor the bat to your specific requirements. Our expert staff will then send you a bat with the weight, pickup, number of grains and height of middle all specified to your needs. In effect we try to become your ears, eyes and arms in interpreting your requirements. This personal service is rare and makes sure you have a bat that suits your style of play.

Our bats are made in Pakistan where the bat makers have years of experience and have expertly crafted the ProSeries balance which results in a lighter pick up, whilst not compromising on the middle. The bats are 18 Month air dried for optimum moisture content, with a 9 cane handle which allows for optimum flex, in turn delivering maximum power. It also has a Bubble grip for increased air flow reducing sweat and improving traction in a range of conditions.

Overall the Woodworm ProSeries (£199) is the ideal choice for any player who is looking to get top quality at a great price. In comparison to Kookaburra (£325), and Gray Nicholls (£325), you can save up to £125. This saving could result in you getting top of the range set of ProSeries Pads and Gloves and still have money left over.
