Paul Collingwood Becomes England Vice-Captain
Paul Collingwood is set to be the England Vice-Captain for the Bangladesh Tour.
Current captain Andrew Strauss is taking a break from the game and whilst he is away Alastair Cook is set to be the team captain.
England will be playing two tests and three one-day internationals in Bangladesh, Cook will revert back to his captain status as soon as the team returns.
Collingwood is already Englands twenty captain, a role that he took up in May 2009. He was once Durham’s vice-captain, a position that he retired from stating that the extra workload was affecting his performance.
Before Collingwood was appointed as the vice-captain for the England team, it was speculated that Kevin Pietersen might get the title.
"We've done some fantastic stuff in the last few games and the boys should be very proud," said Collingwood.
"They've been working on their skills and we feel we are moving forward in this format of the game."
England suffered a defeat against Pakistan after Abdul Razzaq destroyed them with 46 from 18 balls.
"There's no shame in losing like that, our two performances have been very, very good here," insisted Collingwood.
"In Twenty20 cricket it only takes one batsman to have an exceptional innings and that's exactly what he did. It was pure hitting and very hard to bowl at him.
"But we are in a good groove. We will take this form and go into the World Cup with confidence.
"It was a good series. KP (Kevin Pietersen) was brilliant and is back in form now so that is a positive for us."
